wear is an experimental collection of works made with the aid of a conventional toaster oven by morphing and twisting everyday plastics into new forms of existence.

 Developed over the course of a month residence at New Zealand’s Manakau Institute of Technology, I redesigned the innate being of found plastics and redefined their purpose into wearable and engaging works of jewellery.

 The materials I used for this project were collected from the streets of New Zealand and purchased second hand from many of the lucrative op-shops during my 2014 visit. My principle making tool, a toaster oven, was a ten dollar score on a lunchtime outing.

 In 2006 Lisa Furno completed an Advanced Diploma in Jewellery and Object Design at Enmore Design Centre, Sydney Institute of TAFE, and is currently undertaking her bachelor of Visual Arts in Jewellery at the University of South Australia, Adelaide.

Over the years Lisa has developed her making techniques, material scope and methodologies through activities such as a tenancy at Gray Street Workshop, Adelaide; a one month residency at the Manukau Institute of Technology, School of Visual Art, New Zealand; traditional Jade carving and flax weaving workshops in New Zealand; as well as participating in business-orientated schemes including the New Enterprise Incentive in small business.

Most recently Lisa has held a number of solo exhibitions including The Squid Has a Mexican Moustache at Gray Street Workshop Gallery, Adelaide, in 2013, Lisa Furno at Personal Space Project, Canberra, and Pop Up Exhibition at Fresh Gallery, Auckland, in 2014.
