Nerine Martini

Thought Bubbles I-IX, 2017, ink on paper, 16 x 22cm (9 original works in total)

$100 each

Martini’s practice involves a continual shift between a studio / exhibition practice and working on community-based, public art projects. She has an interest in working cross-culturally and creating artworks that respond to stories of migration, belonging, dislocation, cultural identity and home. Interweaving personal and universal threads Martini’s work poetically expresses concerns for humanity and our shared social and natural environments.

Nerine Martini exhibited at AirSpace Projects in June 2016 and has an upcoming solo exhibition at M. Contemporary in January 2018.

Maria Miranda and Norie Neumark

(Out-of-Sync)

She might therefore, 2017, shredded paper (framed), 30 x 20cm

$250 (original work)

Engaged with questions of culture, place and memory, our practice draws provocations, ideas and material from literary texts and popular cultural forms such as film, TV and music, understanding these different cultural forms as ciphers to even greater mysteries. We treat ourselves as (art) mediums – always deep in a state of trance-like séance – passing on these strange disturbances and unclear sightings/sitings that emanate from the vast cultural unconscious. The work that emerges can take many forms, but mostly video, sound, installation and the internet.

Norie Neumark is Professor and Chair of Media Studies and Director, Centre for Creative Arts, La Trobe University, Melbourne.

Maria Miranda is a DECRA fellow in the School of Humanities at La Trobe University.

Out-of-Sync exhibited Shredded: Stuplimity and the Aethetics of Neo-Liberalism at AirSpace Projects in November 2015
